You start at Avifauna and cycle along the Heimanswetering towards Woubrugge. Cross the water at the Kruisweg and continue cycling on the Comriekade to the point where the Heimanswetering, the Paddegat and the Wijde Aa converge. Here you turn right onto Zwetweg into Lang de Braassem towards Woudse Dijk/Rijnsaterwoude. You pass the Zuiderhem nature reserve (also known as the Hemmen), a beautiful area consisting of six islands. From the Zwetweg you have a nice view over it. Unfortunately, the islands are not accessible, two of them are accessible by boat. Bird lovers, take binoculars with you! On the islands'spot\\\' you can spot various bird species, such as blue herons, spotted woodpeckers, hawks and long-eared owls. The little reed warbler is often hidden in the reeds.

Mills and ferry
Enjoy the beautiful view over the Braassemermeer, locally known as Braassem. This lake, created by peat excavation, is 425 hectares in size and is a favorite with pleasure craft. There are also plenty of windmills to admire along the route. The first is the Dekkermolen sawmill, followed by the Geestmolen on the north side of the Braassem. Along the way there are plenty of nice terraces where you can settle down for a snack or drink. Past junction 21 you get on the ferry that sails between Oude Wetering and Leimuiden. Crossing is possible Monday to Friday 07:00 - 19:00, Saturday 10:00 - 18:00, Sundays and public holidays 10:00 - 18:00 (from October to March the ferry does not operate on Sundays).
