Zandbos Tour from Deurne

From here you walk into the Zandbos. Until the second half of the nineteenth century, this area was covered with heathland and drifting sands. Now mainly Scots pines and American oaks grow there, although you can also see other types of trees. You walk around the Buntven, a nice place to take a break so that you can optimally enjoy the silence and natural beauty of this idyllic spot. Incidentally, the Buntven is a natural fen. In the countryside, the route takes you over car-free roads along meadows and fields. You walk back through the castle park, with the beautiful Klein Kasteel and the ruins of the Groot Kasteel. Both castles originally date from the fourteenth century. Next to the Groot Kasteel is the sixteenth-century Dinghuis.
