Tour Zandbos from Deurne

From here you walk into the Zandbos. Until the second half of the nineteenth century, this area was covered with heath and shifting sands. Now mainly Scots pines and American oaks grow there, although you can also see other tree species. You walk around the Buntven, a nice place to take a break so that you can fully enjoy the silence and the natural beauty of this idyllic spot. The Buntven is also a natural fen. In the countryside, the route leads you on low-traffic roads past meadows and fields. You walk back through the castle park, with the beautiful Klein Kasteel and the ruins of the Groot Kasteel. Both castles originally date from the fourteenth century. Next to the Groot Kasteel is the sixteenth-century Dinghuis.
