Round Vennebulten and Aaltense Goor

Your walk starts at Vineyard and Uutbloas stop Hofstee De Vennebulten. It is named after the nature reserve of the same name east of Varsseveld. The Vennebulten consists mainly of coniferous forests and is intersected by a Hessenweg, which dates from Roman times. The forest is located on an old sand ridge in a humid heathland. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the entire area from the watchtower. From De Vennebulten you can walk into another special nature reserve: the Aaltense Goor reserve. Here you can still see the small, narrow parcels of hay meadows from the past, separated from each other by ditches and alder canals. The rest of the old cultural landscape has disappeared due to land consolidation. Nevertheless, the whole wide region is worth a visit: in the surrounding bocage landscape there are many estates and castles.
