Tour of Vennebulten and Aaltense Goor

Your walk starts at Wijngaard and Uutbloashalte Hofstee De Vennebulten. It is named after the nature reserve of the same name east of Varsseveld. The Vennebulten consists mainly of coniferous forests and is intersected by a Hessen road, which dates from Roman times. The forest is located on an old sand ridge in a moist heathland. You can have a beautiful view of the entire area from the observation tower. From De Vennebulten you can easily walk into another special nature reserve: the Aaltense Goor reserve. Here you can still see the small, narrow plots of hayfields from the past, separated from each other by ditches and alder banks. The rest of the old cultural landscape has disappeared due to land consolidation. Yet the entire region is worth seeing: there are many estates and castles in the surrounding scenic landscape.
