Colijnsplaat
With the wind you continue along the Oosterschelde. Colijnsplaat, a little further on, enjoys a protected village view. The village is known for the Miracle of Colijnsplaat during the Flood Disaster of 1953: when a flood defense threatened to collapse, a cargo ship that had become detached from the storm ended up in front of the flood defence. It prevented Colijnsplaat from flooding.

Celtic settlement
In Roman antiquity there was a Celtic settlement near Colijnsplaat called Ganuenta. In this settlement there was a temple in honor of the goddess Nehalennia who had power over trade and shipping. Skippers made sacrifices here for a safe crossing to Brittania. In 1970, some Nehalennia altars from the Oosterschelde were fished up near Colijnsplaat. At the beginning of this century, a Gallo-Roman temple was built near the port.

Verscentrum Sandee is located in Kamperland, the largest town on Noord-Beveland. In the store you will find many vegetables and fruit from our own cultivation. Fresh bread rolls are baked daily in the kitchen and meals are prepared in the store, nice for a picnic on the way. You can enjoy homemade apple pie with whipped cream on the sunny terrace, while the shop offers regional products and souvenirs from Zeeland. Verscentrum Sandee is a bicycle cafe and therefore has a bicycle charging point and other facilities especially for walkers and cyclists. Nice to join in a tour around the Veerse Meer!

This mill on the edge of the Colijnsplaat was built in 1864. The mill was in operation until the 1970s. The mill was restored in 2006.
