Description
This is a beautiful route also for children. It contains 4 ferries to cross.
We started the route at the church in Earnewoude, which also has a (war) cemetery. Just after departure we take the first ferry, after which we reach the De Alde Feanen National Park Visitor Center. After this we cycle on a cycle path with water on both sides. There is a ditch on one side and boats are moored on the other. then via a drawbridge through the fields, over a farmyard to the next ferry. Again between the farmlands to a large ferry across the Princess Margriet Canal. We arrive in Grou. Here you can possibly go into Grou to grab a terrace. Then back between the farmlands to Warten where the next (solar-powered) ferry is in the marina. We sail here for about 10 minutes, which takes us back over the Prinses Margriet Canal. Another beautiful stretch with meadows on the left and the canal on the right with all kinds of boats moored before cycling back into Earnewoude.
We spent the night in: B&B BijBoukje, where we received a very hospitable welcome, slept well and had a delicious breakfast.
