Tour of West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen from Vlissingen

Walcheren is beautiful, but so is Zeeland Flanders, which you will discover with this route. You take a nice tour around one of the most beautiful villages in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen: Groede. During the Second World War there was a large cross on the church tower: Groede was a Red Cross village, or an 'open village' during the Battle of the Scheldt. The warring parties received their wounded here. As a result, it was not bombed and was beautifully preserved. Now it looks like a French village square with all those terraces! Along the way you take the ferry across the Western Scheldt and the nice towns of Breskens, Retranchement and Sluis. Also get off at the Het Zwin nature reserve, right on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium!
