Description

After a cup of coffee at Hotel Winselerhof, put on your walking shoes. You start with a climb to the top of the Wilhelminaberg, built as a slag heap of the State Mine Wilhelmina. At a height of 225 meters you have a beautiful view! In recent years, the former mining area has been transformed into Park Gravenrode, which includes the Anstelerbeekdal and Strijthagerbeekdal. Then you walk a bit along the flowery grasslands of the Strijthagerbeek. You pass Castle Strijthagen, the last remaining noble estate in this region. The main building dates from the eighteenth century, although its history goes back to the Middle Ages. After a stopover at your starting point, you walk along the banks of the Cranenweyer, a reservoir in the Anstel valley (also called Anstelerbeek valley). You will also pass the beautiful Castle Erenstein.
