Description

Your route starts at Hotel and Grand Café De Pauw. Nearby you can see the imposing Onze Lieve Vrouwe Munsterkerk, a medieval cruciform basilica, restored by architect Pierre Cuypers in the years 1864-1891. In the church you can see the tombs of the founder of the associated Munster abbey, Count Gerard III van Gelre and his wife. You walk straight through the historic center to the Cuypershuis, a contemporary museum about architect/designer Pierre Cuypers and current design. You walk back via Het Witte Kerkje. This Jacobus chapel was built in the 15th century, directly south of Roermond. It is located in a beautiful authentic area between Roer and Maas, which was later called'Suburban St. Jacob\\\'. Then you cross the Roer via the beautiful Stone Bridge from 1771.
