Tour of Roermond, Asenray and Swalmen

Your route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel and Grand Café De Pauw. You cycle past meadows and floodplains along the Maas to picturesque Asselt. The St. Dionysius Church, whose tower dates from 1515, is located on a church hill. Around Boukoul you drive through a mosaic of nature reserves and grasslands. Hillenraad Castle is a square moated castle that was built in the fourteenth century. The four corner towers dominate the estate and give the graceful building a stately appearance. The complex is surrounded by a moat and admirers will have to view it from a distance: Hillenraad Castle is not open to the public. You will also pass Zuidewijk Spick, a castle farm from the seventeenth century. Then you drive into Roermond via Asenray with its beautiful historic city center.
