You immediately cross the Noordhollandsch Kanaal at Burgervlotbrug, via one of the five remaining raft bridges in the Netherlands. Special! On the other side you pass through the Mennonite Neighborhood: this former settlement was founded by Mennonites in the eighteenth century. Then you make a tour around the Abtskolk, in the nature reserve Abtskolk en de Putten, a unique open area behind the Hondsbossche sea wall. It has been designated as a Natura 2000 area because the dwarf goose, white-fronted goose, greylag goose and widgeon live here. The whimsical allotment is clearly visible from the cycling and hiking trails.
