A figure eight through the Westerpark near Zoetermeer

Your walk today starts at Camping De Drie Morgen. In the farm shop you can immediately stock up on some delicious fresh produce for on the way. This route leads through the surprisingly varied nature near Zoetermeer. You will discover the Westerpark, a recreation area that was created around 1980. It continues into the Buytenpark and Balijbos, a huge contiguous nature reserve in the Groene Hart. In the Westerpark you will see a mix of water features, forest and grasslands. Peat extraction started here as early as the 14th century. Then in 1668 the draining began: several mills ground the Driemanspolder dry. The first half of your walk you walk around the water. After a stop at your starting point you make another round through the park.
