Description

Your route starts at Brasserie Matt's on the Kagerplassen. The Keukenhof in Lisse is a picture. You will be amazed at the flower exhibition, but the estate with Keukenhof Castle is also worth a visit. The castle was built as a residence by a commander of the Dutch East India Company in 1640. Along the way you will pass Museum De Cruqius, where you can learn everything about this pumping station from 1849. The route takes you a long way along the Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeerpolder. Here you have beautiful views over the Kagerplassen and, further away, the Westeinderplassen. The Googermolen, a polder mill from 1717, is the largest round stone ground sailor in the Netherlands. Near the ring canal is the Adermolen, a polder mill from 1941 that replaced a steam pumping station.
