This route takes you through the Westland. During this tour you will see the impressive greenhouse complexes that gave this area the name of Glass City. But also surprising nature reserves and an old polder landscape intersected by watercourses. Soon you will be cycling along the unique nature reserve De Zeven Gaten. A little later you drive along the Wollebrand, which is partly used as a recreational lake, but also serves as a natural water storage. Just before and after Maasland you pass three windmills. Worth checking them out! Just outside Hoek van Holland you cycle through the Staelduinse Bos, a forest area of approximately 95 hectares.

Wippersmolen

De Wippersmolen

This Wippersmolen was built to drain the Sluispolder. After the area around the mill deteriorated due to high-rise buildings, raised traffic viaduct, Wipperspark, high poplars and tall vegetation, it became increasingly difficult to keep the mill running.
