Castle TerWorm is truly a jewel of a castle situated in the middle of greenery in the Geleendal in Heerlen, complete with a moat, courtyard and French rococo garden. The castle garden is freely accessible. It is a beautiful reconstruction of an 18th century French garden with a fountain and orangery.

Cortenbach Castle is one of the five castles in Voerendaal. The castle is located northeast of Voerendaal and is not open to the public. Today it is a beautiful castle farm, of which the striking corner tower alone is worth a look. The atmosphere of yesteryear has lingered here. The current castle is made up of the remains of the original medieval fortress.

The oldest, largest and perhaps most beautiful castle in the Netherlands is definitely worth a visit. Because it is so well preserved, you get a good picture of medieval life. The castle does contain more than 60 halls and other rooms. Get lost through secret corridors and join the knights' hall. Castle Hoensbroek is a real party for children! Dressed up as knights and masters, they storm the castle.

This castle was built in the sixteenth century, but the estate has probably been around since the fifteenth century. The building was renovated in the eighteenth century and then it got its current appearance. The brick main building has a mansard roof and an imposing tower. The Austrian spire was only erected in 1970. There used to be several fish ponds in the park garden that were connected to the Geleenbeek. Now there is only one pond left of that. On the site, next to the castle, there is another castle farm that was built in the seventeenth century. Rumors have it that Rijmersbeek Castle was the meeting place of the so-called Circle of Reijmersbeek. This mysterious society is said to consist of nobility, regents and clergy, all of them influential Roman Catholics. They were concerned about the course that the Limburg ecclesiastical province was taking from the 1960s and they tried to influence this. The story goes that they played an important role in the appointment of Dr. Joannes Matthijs Gijsen as bishop of Roermond.
