Description

On the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you can marvel at the many stately country estates that were built here by the Dutch empire at the end of the eighteenth century. On the Beerschoten estate you walk through an English landscape park with a flowing stream, meadows and old avenues. Heyntjeskamp was built in 1645 and consists largely of forest that grew spontaneously on former drifting sand: Scots pine, native oak, beech and birch. You walk back via the Knollentuin, the former country estate of the Royaards ladies. By will they transferred their activities to a foundation with a social objective. The villa now houses a small-scale living-working community that also cultivates the walled vegetable garden in a biodynamic way.
