You will discover the authentic center of Utrecht with its historic buildings, surprising courtyards and canals with wharf cellars that are unique in the Netherlands. You will also pass the Dom Tower and Stadskasteel Oudaen, a fortified medieval house. Further along the route you will come to an interesting stop to take a break: the National Military Museum, a new museum at the former Soesterberg air base. The historic city of Amersfoort is a beautiful next destination. The Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren is 98 meters high and the center of the Netherlands. you cycle back straight through De Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. The area was created when ice and water pushed up masses of earth and stones 150,000 years ago, forming a ridge.
