The lordship of Buckscope (Boskoop) is known as the largest contiguous tree nursery area in the world. The area has a wonderful alternation between water-rich tree nursery areas, low-lying reclaimed land and peat meadow polders. In addition to the abundance of greenery, Boskoop also has 12 national monuments and there are numerous drawbridges, swing bridges and arched bridges. These characteristic bridges were built in the past to keep the canals in the battle landscape accessible for transport over water. The battle landscape is a landscape in which allotment has taken place in narrow lanes (strokes) with ditches in between.
Zwammerdam is a village in the Groene Hart with a rich history. The oldest remains of habitation date from the 8th to 10th century. The village takes its name from a dam, the Suadenborchdam, which was built in 1165 by the count of Holland, Floris III, to hold back the water from the Rhine. The history is still clearly visible and tangible in the center, around the church.
Zwammerdam is located in the middle of the area where the Limes (northern border of the Roman Empire) and the Old Dutch Water Line meet and where you can enjoy the historic windmills of Aarlanderveen. There are plenty of opportunities to cycle, canoe or walk through the vast polder landscape.

Tip 1: Sortimenttuin'Harry van de Laar\\'
More than 2,500 different tree nursery crops, the top of the Dutch trade assortment, have been planted on more than 2 hectares, with the correct botanical name. The assortment garden was named in 2003 after the well-known assortment expert Harry van de Laar (1929-1999). The assortment garden'Harry van de Laar\\\' focuses on innovation, information and education. Thirty leading companies participate in the garden with a modern and innovative assortment. The garden is freely accessible from sunrise to sunset.

Tip 2: Nursery Museum
The Tree Nursery Museum tells everything about tree cultivation in Boskoop. The museum is located in a tree nursery house from 1870 and decorated in the atmosphere of 1900-1910. From 1 April to 1 October there are boat trips along the Boskoop tree nurseries. The tours take place in an open boat accompanied by a professional guide.

Tip 3: Rosarium and dome
Enjoy more than 120 different rose varieties in this freely accessible national monument. The rosarium was originally built in 1932-1933 to the design of SGA Doorenbos. Next to the rosarium and opposite the station is the national monument Flora, a former exhibition building for floriculture. Now it is used as a catering and theater.

Tip 4: Timber fields
A characteristic cultural-historical landscape element for Boskoop are the wooded fields. These were installed on the west or south side of the nursery to protect the young trees from the wind. Because the transport of plants took place over water, an inner ditch was dug next to the ditch, so that the fields came to lie between two ditches.

Tip 5: Janssens\\\'s ice cream parlour

At one of the oldest nurseries in the Netherlands, you can enjoy the Japanese maple garden (Acreretum) with the largest collection of over 700 different maple species. Furthermore, the Dutch plant collections: Abelia, Buxus, Enkianthus, climbing lonicera, Pieris, Sarcococca, Omsmanthus and Japanese Azalea can be viewed freely during the company's opening hours. A small coffee and tea house has been established there since April.
