Papendrecht, South Holland, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 1920248

Your walk starts at Apollo Hotel Papendrecht. From here you walk through the Alblasserwaard, a vast polder area. This peat meadow area consists mainly of meadows crossed by numerous ditches. The Alblasserwaard has its own regional culture with regional customs, language and a typical architectural style. Time sometimes seems to stand still here. It is therefore wonderfully peaceful here to walk through typical Dutch landscapes with grazing cows in green meadows, past pollard willows, mills, typical dike villages and historic farms. Not much has been preserved of the old town of Bleskensgraaf: the old center was almost completely destroyed during a bombardment in 1940. Only the historic farms and mills outside the center were preserved. You also walk through the Alblasserbos. A forest is a rarity in this vast region.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
