Provided by: Stichting TOP Routenetwerken
The famous Vinkeveense Plassen are located in the De Venen area, which is part of the Green Heart in the northwest of the province of Utrecht. This peat meadow area has a typical Dutch character with characteristic, elongated plots. These were created in the 12th century by draining marshes. The Venen is also a water-rich area because peat has been excavated in various places.
There is a lot of danger on the puddles, but also diving. The water is one of the cleanest in the Netherlands. Twelve sand islands have been constructed in the lakes. Four islands are accessible via a fixed cross-river connection.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
