Tour of Cartierheide from Bergeijk

This cycle route starts with a cup of coffee and something tasty at Streekrestaurant De Hofkaemer. You can taste the history when you cycle through the villages of Bergeijk and Luyksgestel in the Kempen. In the past, smugglers and peddlers roamed the land and mainly small farmers lived in small farms. Nowadays, the land of the Kempen is rich and sandy roads and winding streams run through forests and heathland. The Cartierheide is home to special reptiles such as the viviparous lizard and the smooth snake. The Dalems Stroompje flows over the heath and there are many wet areas. It is part of Boswachterij De Kempen. The deeper you penetrate into the heart of De Kempen, the more wild the area looks. In Eersel you can enjoy the old historic village centre.
