Tour of Cartierheide from Bergeijk

This cycling route starts with a cup of coffee and something tasty at Streekrestaurant De Hofkaemer. You get a taste of history when you cycle through the villages of Bergeijk and Luyksgestel in the Kempen. In the past, smugglers and peddlers roamed the land and mainly peasant farmers lived in small farms. Nowadays the land of the Kempen is rich and dirt roads and winding streams run through forests and heathland. The Cartier Heath is home to special reptiles such as the viviparous lizard and the smooth snake. The Dalems Stream flows over the heath and there are many moist areas. It is part of Boswachterij De Kempen. The deeper you penetrate into the heart of De Kempen, the more wild the area looks. In Eersel you can enjoy the old historic village center.
