Tour of Oudeschans, Bellingwolde and Blijham

From Hoeve Witteborg, you drive along the waters of Oldambtmeer lake, which was created on former agricultural land. Further on, you pass through Oudeschans, a former fortress where you can briefly step back in time. Bellingwolde enjoys a protected village view. Along the Hoofdweg, you'll still see several grand manor farms from Groningen's golden age of grain production. The Magnus Church from 1527 and the former courthouse from 1643 are also picturesque. Boschplaatse in Blijham was built as a manor house around 1580. In 1966, the house lost its function as a farm due to the first land consolidation in the Netherlands. The route also leads through the charming village of Scheemda, perhaps the most beautiful village in the Oldambt region. Due to a quirk in the centuries-old land parceling pattern, this is not a ribbon village.
