This route takes you through Oisterwijk and the surrounding area. Oisterwijk was granted city rights in the thirteenth century and the rich history of this small town can still be seen in the monumental buildings.
Cycling along De Lind, the old market town that has the status of a protected cityscape, you will see some beautiful mansions and an ancient linden tree. From Oisterwijk you drive past meadows and fields to the Leemkuilen, now a wetland rich in plants and birds. Clay was once excavated here to make bricks.
In the village of Helvoirt you cycle along various monumental buildings and old farms. Via the fourteenth-century castle Nemerlaer you cycle to the Kampina, a nature reserve of quiet forests and a large heathland. Then you make a nice tour through the Oisterwijkse Bossen & Vennen. This used to be a vast heathland. From the early 1800s, many acres were planted with Scots pines for mining and shipbuilding. While cycling you will see some picturesque pools.
