Nature in Lochem

Around Lochem it is wonderful to cycle through the Achterhoek countryside. You will find plenty of peace, space and natural beauty here. You will also pass a few country houses and the Staringkoepel.

Estates
From the parking lot you quickly drive into the Beekvliet, a characteristic Achterhoek estate that consists of a mosaic of farmland, deciduous and coniferous forest, impressive tree-lined avenues and hedgerows. The Zwiepse Molen is a corn mill from 1851. At Restaurant & Spelerij De Witte Wieven you can enjoy a tasty stopover. Further on you pass the estate where Huis Ampsen is located. The history of this building dates back to 1105.

Big Field
Just before you cross the Twente Canal again, you can catch a glimpse of Huize't Ross. A little later you drive along the idyllic banks of the Berkel to the Staringkoepel, a tea house from 1850 that was built on behalf of the daughter of the famous poet Staring. In the forests of nature reserve Het Grote Veld the kilometres seem to pass by themselves, while you drive between the fragrant conifers.
