It is wonderful to cycle through the Achterhoek countryside around Lochem. You will find plenty of peace, space and natural beauty here. You will also pass some country houses and the Staring Dome.
From the parking lot you soon enter the Beekvliet, a characteristic Achterhoek estate that consists of a mosaic of farmland, deciduous and coniferous forest, impressive avenues of trees and wooded banks. The Zwiepse Molen is a flour mill from 1851. At Restaurant & Speelerij De Witte Wieven you can enjoy a tasty stopover. Further on you pass the estate where the House Ampsen is located. The history of this building goes back to 1105.
Just before you cross the Twente Canal again, you can take a look at Huize't Ross. A little later you drive along the idyllic banks of the Berkel to the Staring Dome, a tea house from 1850 that was built for the daughter of the famous poet Staring. In the woods of the Het Grote Veld nature reserve, the kilometers seem to pass by themselves, while you drive between the fragrant pine trees.
