This walk starts at Hotel Mercure Zwolle. In the city center of Zwolle your eyes are short. At the Grote Kerkplein, for example, you can see the Rococo-style city pump from 1755. At the Bethlehemkerkplein you will pass the fourteenth-century Bethlehemkerk, one of the oldest buildings in Zwolle. The Sassenpoort dates from 1409 and served as a replacement for an older gatehouse. The defense is still made for the use of bows and arrows, crossbows and spears. The city center was once completely surrounded by a wall and city towers. Three of these remain, such as the Wijndragerstoren in the Krabbestraat. This tower dates from the end of the fifteenth century. You leave Zwolle via the Engels Werk, a large city park that was built around 1830 on former fortifications.

Windmill hull De Hersteller on the Eekwal in Zwolle dates from 1807. In 1917 the windmill was partly demolished, because the function of the windmill was taken over by a steam engine. Today only the hull of the mill remains.
