An E-bike route from city to city

Make sure the battery is well charged, because this route of more than 66 kilometers through the landscape of Twente. Get acquainted with typical Twente small scale in Ootmarsum, where the industry has not got a grip on and which still has an old, nostalgic city center, but during your trip you will also encounter beautiful places with a rich cultural history outside the built-up area.

One of those places was one of the most powerful manors in Twente, strategically located at the intersection of the trade route Deventer-Osnabrück and the Bornsebeek. Weleveld was founded around 1300 and was easily accessible for traffic by land and water due to its location. This contributed to the economic status of the manor house. After excavations at the end of the nineteenth century, the old canal system was restored. Huis Weleveld has thus regained much of its former glory.

De Eeshof Castle is also very special. The oldest part of the beautiful house in Tubbergen dates from the eighteenth century and above the door you will see the year 1719. The wing that has been added has two stones with coats of arms indicating 1780 and 1786. The second floor was added to the building in the nineteenth century and is therefore considerably younger.

Painting enthusiasts can also stop by the Ton Schulten Museum. His world, his way of thinking, his vision and his quest can be found in his works, but the museum has more than paintings. Beautiful documentaries shed light on the painter of Consensism, and changing exhibitions by national and international guest exhibitors always bring something new.
