Enjoy the water, the center, nature in Hulshorst

Due to its location in the Northwest Veluwe, Nunspeet is an attractive village to explore further. On a number of facades and other suitable places'wall poems\\\' have been placed, written by local poets and better known poets. Most holidaymakers go to the Veluwe, but it is also very nice to walk towards the Veluwemeer. If you follow our route, you can walk past two beautiful windmills in no time.

Belt mill De Duif was built in 1886. Before the ground for the construction of this mill was thrown up, as is the case with belt mills, there were already two other mills on this site: a standard mill that disappeared in 1818 and a mill that completely burned down in 1886 after a lightning strike. Construction of the current windmill started just a week later and De Duif was quickly built up within six weeks. After several attempts at restoration and repair, a major restoration was successfully completed in 1982. A café has now been set up at the bottom of the mill.

In Hulshorst you will see windmill De Maagd (1894). What is special about this mill is that demolition material was probably used for its construction, which you can clearly see from the appearance of the back of the mill. In 1960 the mill was completely restored. After some time of standstill, the mill was made fully operational again in 1987-1988. To this day, the flour produced by the mill is sent to bakers in the Hulshorst area.
