Description
At PAND Pannenkoek Restaurant & Ijssalon you get on your bike to explore the Rivierenland National Landscape: a polder landscape of dikes and floodplains. After the floodplains of the Lek you cross the river to Culemborg, with the ruins of Culemborg Castle. This castle was built in the old fortified town during the fourteenth century. It is now a city park. In the Gelderland village of Rijswijk you pass De Hoop, an eighteenth-century corn mill. A beautiful landmark if you cross the Lek by ferry to Wijk bij Duurstede. Here you pass the Molen van Ruysdael, a ruin of a mill from 1555. Jacob van Ruysdael painted the mill. Via Sterkenburg Castle and beautiful historical places near Werkhoven (Beverweerd Castle and Rijn en Weert Mill) you cycle back.
