Description
At PAND Pannenkoek Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlour, you can get on your bike to explore the Rivierenland National Landscape: a polder landscape of dikes and floodplains. After the floodplains of the Lek you cross the river to Culemborg, with the ruins of Culemborg Castle. This castle was built during the fourteenth century in the old fortified city. It is now a city park. In the Gelderland village of Rijswijk you will pass De Hoop, an eighteenth-century flour mill. A nice landmark when you cross the Lek by ferry to Wijk bij Duurstede. Here you pass the Molen van Ruysdael, a ruin of a mill from 1555. Jacob van Ruysdael painted the mill. You cycle back via Castle Sterkenburg and beautiful historic spots near Werkhoven (Castle Beverweerd and Molen Rijn en Weert).
