Description
The Dune Belt
The starting point of the cycle tour is in the centre of Bree. From there you cycle through the Duinengordel, a varied and extensive area with heathlands, forests and dunes. Central to this area is the Oudsberg nature reserve, the highest and largest open drifting dune in Flanders. Then you cycle ten kilometres over the towpath of the Zuid-Willemsvaart back to Bree.
Cozy Bree
Bree is also called the Pearl of the Kempen. You will find sights such as the Old Town Hall from 1591, the Michielshuis from the seventeenth century and the old defense towers on the edge of the city. The current town hall is located in a former monastery. The street pattern of Bree is also special, because it still corresponds to the original medieval design. Bree is a typical Limburg city. The atmosphere is friendly and you can enjoy delicious Burgundian food and drinks. Take a seat on one of the many cozy terraces to enjoy a cup of coffee with a piece of Limburg pie or go for a tasty dinner.
