Description
The Limburgse Kempen is an ideal area for a relaxing bike ride. Relaxing and gaining new energy is fine here. This route takes you from Bree through a landscape of fields, meadows, fruit orchards and authentic long-gabled farms.
The Dune Belt
The starting point of the bike tour is in the center of Bree. From there you cycle through the Dunes Belt, a varied and extensive area with heaths, forests and dunes. Central to this area is the nature reserve Oudsberg, the highest and largest open sand dune in Flanders. You then cycle ten kilometers on the towpath of the Zuid-Willemsvaart back to Bree.

Bree is also called the Pearl of the Kempen. You will find places of interest such as the Old Town Hall from 1591, the Michielshuis from the seventeenth century and the old defense towers on the outskirts of the city. The current town hall is located in a former monastery. The street pattern of Bree is also special, because it still corresponds to the original medieval design. Bree is a typical Limburg town. The atmosphere is friendly and you can enjoy delicious Burgundian food and drinks. Take a seat on one of the many cozy terraces to enjoy a cup of coffee with a piece of Limburg pie or go for a tasty dinner.
