The fairytale vistas in the bocage landscape are idyllic. Hedgerows, farms, fields, and streams lend a touch of romance to the rolling countryside, and the estates and castles in the area bear silent witness to Gelderland's cultural history. The Kranengoor estate has been managed sparingly in recent years to allow the intimate landscape to recover. It is a highly diverse area with fields and woodland meadows, forests, and old ridge structures. It used to be a damp, marshy lowland in the rolling Achterhoek sand landscape. 'Goor' also means wetland. Lochem and Borculo are pleasant towns to stop for a break and soak up the atmosphere.
