Description

This route takes you to the surprising countryside of Nijmegen. Your walk starts in the Duivelsberg nature reserve in Berg en Dal. You walk over hills and through valleys where a babbling stream flows. The forest consists mainly of deciduous trees, including the sweet chestnut. The route then leads you through the northern part of the Groesbeek forest. This former production forest is now allowed to develop again into a natural forest. There is more dead wood and more and more conifers are making way for deciduous trees such as oak, birch and rowan. At De Witches' Dance you can take a break before walking back into the forest. In the middle of the forest you have been able to enjoy a delicious, traditional Dutch pancake at De Duivelsberg for more than fifty years.
