Description

Your route starts at Camping De Waay. Lingewaard is located in the Betuwe and is wedged between the Rhine and Waal. You can enjoy cycling here over winding dikes through a typical wide river landscape. You can also wander around freely in the floodplains. You might even come across Konik horses and Red Geuzen. A little further away is the medieval Doornenburg castle, which is well worth a visit. At the junction of the Waal and the Rhine near Doornenburg you pass Fort Pannerden. This historic attraction is part of the New Dutch Waterline. Halfway through the route you cycle through Bemmel. Here you can take a look at De Kinkelenburg Castle. The earliest mention of this castle dates back to 1403, but at the time it was probably no more than a square stone residential tower.
