Description
The starting point of this route is in Houten. On the way to Wijk bij Duurstede you will find a wealth of beautiful sights along your route, you keep getting off!. You can take a look at Duurstede Castle, Groenestein Castle, Sandenburg Castle, Sterkenburg Castle and Beverweerd Castle. You can already see Wijk bij Duurstede from the polder. Romans, Vikings and bishops left their mark on this town. The restored castle ruins of Duurstede Castle, with its square keep from 1270 and Burgundian tower, still show some of that wealth. The historic city center has numerous monuments, such as the Grote Kerk and the old Town Hall on the Markt. You cycle back along the Lek and Fort Werk aan de Groeneweg. Get off at Eethuis Ster in the Kersentuin!
