Nature tour around Gouda

You first cycle towards the Julianasluis from 1936, which separates the Hollandse IJssel from the Gouwe. The lock and bridge keepers' houses are national monuments. Just before Moordrecht you pass the Catholic church and associated parsonage, two beautiful buildings from the nineteenth century. The village center enjoys a protected village view, what a nice atmosphere! Completely in the old style, you cross the river to Gouderak on a ferry. Then you pass Gouda, known for its cheese, syrup waffles and pottery. The compact and historic city center has many sights, beautiful medieval streets, canals and courtyards. Get off at Barista Café Gouda! You drive back past the Reeuwijkse Plassen, an exuberant bird world in a typical Dutch peat landscape. Polders and wood quays, mills, dikes and farm roads... it couldn't be more Dutch!
