The wide panoramas attract many cyclists, who can enjoy breathtakingly beautiful views. You cycle from the parking lot to Renswoude, located outside Ederveen. This knight's court town used to be called Borchwal, probably referring to the rampart that used to surround the castle. The first house on the estate probably dates from the end of the 14th century. The current house was built on the medieval foundations of this first house, when it was built in 1654. The next attraction on the route is the Walderveense Mill. This octagonal windmill was built in 1895 on the site of an earlier post mill. The tower mill has a stone substructure and a wooden, thatched superstructure. There are two pairs of grinding stones in the mill, both of which are still in use.

Windmill the Doesburgermolen

If you continue you will come to one of the oldest windmills in the Netherlands: the Doesburgermolen was built around 1620. The closed post flour mill still has an old tail construction and was probably an open post mill in the past. The ground sailor - the tips of the blades almost touch the ground - was built to replace an even older mill, which could be seen on a map in 1568.
