Bicycle route Scherpenzeel and Renswoude

You will enjoy a beautiful bike ride around Scherpenzeel and Renswoude. You will also visit Scherpenzeel itself. This village was once a strategic point on the border of Gelre and Utrecht. You will see a number of beautiful monumental buildings there, such as the Reformed Church from 1300. Huis Scherpenzeel was once a fortified building, but was rebuilt in its current form in the nineteenth century. From junction 81, you cycle along the path beside the Valleikanaal, which belonged to the former Grebbelinie. In Walderveen, you pass the Walderveense Molen, a grain mill from 1895. Just before junction 76, you pass the former Fort Daatselaar from 1799, which was also part of the Grebbelinie. After dismounting, enjoy a delicious meal on the terrace at Restaurant De Dennen.
