Your route starts at Taverne't Koetshoes near Valkenburg. A bit of a foreign country in the Netherlands: that's how the hills of South Limburg feel. You can enjoy beautiful panoramas on wooded slopes and lovely stream valleys. You will also find a rich cultural history in this region. In picturesque Mechelen you can see characteristic half-timbered houses, the church stands on a church hill. In the border village of Oud-Lemiers you have to get off for the beautiful twelfth-century Sint-Catharina chapel. On the edge of Voerendaal you pass the estate of Castle Cortenbach and in charming Gulpen you spot the thirteenth-century church tower, which once housed the St. Peter's Church.
