Zoetermeer is easy to explore by bike. In the countryside you will pass through beautiful old towns. And you will discover how beautiful nature in the Randstad can be.
Forest Bentwoud
The route starts at the edge of the Bentwoud, a young forest in which space has also been made for flower-rich grasslands and swamps. With over 800 hectares, this is the largest contiguous forest area in the Randstad. It is then wonderfully peaceful to cycle in the vast polder. And enjoy the views. At the Zevenhuizerplas you pass Boulevard Nesselande. In this shopping center you will find nice shops and cozy terraces for a refreshing pit stop.
Beautiful Zevenhuizen
In Zevenhuizen there are some beautiful monuments in the Dorpsstraat. The largest church dates from 1699, the smaller Remonstrant church was built in 1866. The route leads you further along the Rottemeren. The surrounding polders started to settle after reclamation, so that the Rottemeren are now higher than the surrounding landscape. In Zoetermeer you drive past the iconic water tower from 1928. In the old village center is De Hoop, a flour mill from 1897.
