Fiery Tail Route

The Vurige Staartroute introduces you to the narrow plots of the old polder De Vurige Staart, which form a contrast to the large scale of the Purmer. The name Fiery Tail probably has a relationship with the cattle disease anthrax that used to be common here. During the walk you will pass peat moss reed land, where the salty influence of the time of Prohibition is still noticeable. Both peat moss and ferns can be found in the peat moss reed land. In the summer you can see many meadow birds on the moist grasslands. The route is marked with blue stickers with the name of the route and an icon on it. The alternative options are indicated with yellow stickers.
