Tour of Boven-Slinge from Varsseveld

Your walking route starts at Hotel Café Restaurant De Ploeg in Varsseveld. From here you first walk to Molen de Engel, a round stone smock mill from 1850. The mill was completely restored in 1975 and is still operational. The fourteen-sided smock is unique. Also note the weather vane in the shape of an angel blowing a trumpet. Then you walk to the Boven-Slinge, which enters the Netherlands at Kotten in the Winterswijk region. The name is said to be a reference to the winding course. In the past, the stream ran as the Beneden-Slinge via the Slangenburg estate to the Oude IJssel near Doetinchem. Tip: in the summer months, the museum farm Boerderij/Museum Het Hofshuus is open on some days near Varsseveld. Highly recommended! The route will automatically take you past it.
