Description

Your walking route starts at Hotel Café Restaurant De Ploeg in Varsseveld. From here you walk through the Achterhoek bocage landscape to the Varsseveldse kops. The landscape around the village is characterized by small-scale differences in relief. These small coversand hills, varying from one to five meters high, were created in the last ice age. Fields were laid on the high heads of the cover sand ridges, which only grew higher due to centuries of deep litter fertilization. Now you will find a small-scale mosaic of high fields, forests and standard orchards. The Varsseveldsebekers are a beautiful remnant of the historic Eastern Dutch camp landscape, where you will always find an old farm as the epicenter. Nice to discover. Especially in the hamlet of Binnenheurne you can see a few authentic farms. How beautiful the Achterhoek is!
