Tour of the Achterhoek camp landscape: the Varsseveldse kopps

Your walking route starts at Hotel Café Restaurant De Ploeg in Varsseveld. From here you walk through the Achterhoek scenic landscape to the Varsseveldse kopps. The landscape around the village is characterized by small-scale relief differences. These small cover sand mounds, ranging from one to five meters in height, were created during the last ice age. Fields were planted on the high heads of the cover sand ridges, which only grew higher due to centuries of deep litter fertilization. Now you will find a small-scale mosaic of high fields, forests and standard orchards. The Varsseveldse kopps are a beautiful remnant of the historic eastern Dutch camp landscape, where you will always find an old farm as the epicenter. Fun to discover. You will see a few authentic farms, especially in the hamlet of Binnenheurne. How beautiful the Achterhoek is!
