Description

This route through the Bloemendaal polder takes you past the nicest regional shops full of local delicacies. While enjoying the vast polder landscape, you will also discover beautiful places, such as Huize Bloemendaal and fields full of chickens.

The Bloemendaal polder

The creation of this polder took quite some effort. The polder was only created in 1555 after a heated discussion between the Lords of Breda and those of Zevenbergen.

The polder was diked and the drainage initially ran into the Moye Keene river. The drainage now runs via the Bloemendaalse Vliet and the associated pumping station.

Fun fact: The road from Zevenbergen to this polder was once called the Weg van Bloemendaal. This road is now called the Klundertseweg.
