Your cycle route starts at Paviljoen de Duinrand. You drive along the Brielse Meer to the nice Maassluis. In the nineteenth century, Maassluis became world famous for being a towage company. The Municipal Museum gives you a nice picture of the interesting history of the harbor town. You will also pass corn mill De Hoop, a round tower mill from 1792. Historic Brielle is a place where cultural history is kept alive, because the city has still preserved the old defenses. The old city walls, nine bastions, five ravelins, an eighteenth-century gatekeeper's house and an equipped harbor battery with a bombproof guard house and many bunkers have been preserved.
