Enjoy the Meuse area

Unprecedentedly beautiful forests, floodplains and plenty of historical sights: you will find it along the Maas in Central Limburg. This route takes you through the Leudal and Roermond.

Leudal First you cycle through Het Leudal, a beautiful nature reserve of wet forests around the De Leu stream. Here you pass the Leumolen, an ancient watermill. In picturesque Neer you make a pit stop at Cafe Maneslust Biej Mieke, after which you can admire the Friedessemolen from 1671. Then you cross the Maas with a ferry. In the floodplains around Beesel it is nice to cycle on car-free roads past fruit orchards and flowery meadows.

Roermond You drive a bit through the damp forests in the Swalmdal, how wonderfully quiet it is here! Just south of Boukoul you pass Zuidewijk, a castle farm from the seventeenth century. Get off at Boerderijterras and Camping het Spikkerdal, before driving to the historic heart of Roermond. Drive through the woods of the Beegderheide to Eetcafe Aan de Kirk for a delicious meal.
