Enjoy the Maas area

Unprecedentedly beautiful forests, floodplains and plenty of historical sights: you will find it along the Maas in Central Limburg. This route takes you through the Leudal and through Roermond, among other things.

Leudal First you cycle through Het Leudal, a beautiful nature reserve of wet forests around the De Leu stream. Here you pass the Leumolen, an ancient watermill. In picturesque Neer you make a pit stop at Cafe Maneslust Biej Mieke, after which you can admire the Friedessemolen from 1671. Then you cross the Maas with a ferry. In the floodplains around Beesel it is nice to cycle on car-free roads past fruit orchards and flowery meadows.

Roermond You drive a bit through the damp forests in the Swalmdal, how wonderfully quiet it is here! Just south of Boukoul you pass Zuidewijk, a castle farm from the seventeenth century. Get off at Boerderijterras and Camping het Spikkerdal, before driving to the historic heart of Roermond. Enjoy a coffee and something tasty at Maasterras Kanters before driving through the woods of the Beegderheide to Eetcafe Aan de Kirk for a delicious meal.
