Enjoying the Meuse area

Unprecedented beautiful forests, floodplains and plenty of historical sights: you will find it along the Maas in Central Limburg. This route takes you through the Leudal and Roermond.

Leudal
First you cycle through Het Leudal, a beautiful nature reserve of wet forests around the stream De Leu. Here you pass the Leumolen, an ancient watermill. In the picturesque Neer you make a pit stop at Café Maneslust Biej Mieke, after which you can admire the Friedessemolen from 1671. Then you cross the Maas with a ferry. In the floodplains around Beesel it is nice to cycle on car-free roads past orchards and flower-filled meadows.

Roermond
You drive a bit through the moist forests in the Swalmdal, it is wonderfully quiet here! Just south of Boukoul you pass Zuidewijk, a castle farm from the seventeenth century. Get off at Farm Terrace and Camping het Spikkerdal, before you drive to the historic heart of Roermond. Enjoy a coffee with something delicious at Maasterras Kanters before driving through the woods of the Beegderheide to Eetcafé Aan de Kirk for a delicious meal.
