Rose scent on the Maas

Old castles, quiet nature reserves and picturesque villages: you discover them along the Limburg Maas. In spring and summer you get an extra experience: around Lottum you cycle through the rose region.

Arcen Castle Soon after boarding, you will ride into the North Limburg forests. You will pass through the Houthuizerheide and the Schuitwater, a varied nature reserve with alder swamp forests, marsh vegetation and dry coniferous forests and heathlands. You will cross the Maas by ferry and cycle to the beautiful Arcen. Here you will find Arcen Castle, a country house whose origins date back to the twelfth century. The Wymarsemolen is a corn mill from 1677.

Rose village Lottum You will take a trip to Lottum, a beautiful and pleasant rose village. In this region, around twenty million roses are grown annually. On the edge of the village is the Borggraaf, a monumental country house dating from 1551. Just before you drive into Grubbenvorst, you will see the striking Onze Lieve Vrouw Tenhemelopnemingskerk. A little further on you will drive past Huis De Steeg, a mansion from 1750.
