Old castles, quiet nature reserves and picturesque villages: you will discover them along the Limburgse Maas. In the spring and summer you get an extra experience: around Lottum you cycle through the rose region.
Castle Arcen
Soon after getting on, you drive into the North Limburg woods. You will pass through the Houthuizerheide and the Schuitwater, a varied nature reserve with alder swamp forests, swamp vegetation and dry coniferous forests and heaths. With a ferry you cross the Maas and cycle to the beautiful Arcen. Here you will find Arcen Castle, a country house whose origins date back to the twelfth century. The Wymarsemolen is a corn mill from 1677.
Rozendorp Lottum
You make a trip to Lottum, a beautiful and cozy rose village. About twenty million roses are grown in this region every year. On the edge of the village is the Borggraaf, a monumental country house dating from 1551. Just before entering Grubbenvorst, you will see the striking Our Lady of the Assumption Church. A little further on you pass Huis De Steeg, a mansion from 1750.
