Description
Old castles, quiet nature reserves and picturesque villages: you will discover them along the Limburg Maas. In spring and summer you get an extra experience: around Lottum you cycle through the rose region.
Arcen Castle
Soon after boarding, you drive into the North Limburg forests. You will pass through the Houthuizerheide and the Schuitwater, a varied nature reserve with alder forests, swamp vegetation and dry coniferous forests and heathlands. You can cross the Maas on a ferry and cycle to beautiful Arcen. Here you will find Arcen Castle, a country house whose origins date back to the twelfth century. The Wymarsemolen is a flour mill from 1677.
Rozendorp Lottum
You take a trip to Lottum, a beautiful and cozy rose village. About twenty million roses are grown in this region every year. On the edge of the village is the Borggraaf, a monumental country house dating from 1551. Just before you enter Grubbenvorst, you will see the striking Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. A little further on you drive past Huis De Steeg, a mansion from 1750.
