Cycling in the Dommeldal around Vught

This route takes you from Fiets En Wandelcafé'T Groene Woude through the Dommeldal between Sint-Oedenrode and Sint-Michielsgestel, two villages near Den Bosch. The river De Dommel meanders picturesquely through an old cultural landscape with fields, meadows and groves. At Sint-Oedenrode you pass Den Hulst castle. This castle already existed in the fourteenth century, but it has been renovated several times over the centuries into a high white-plastered house under a hipped roof. A little outside Sint-Michielsgestel you cycle past the De Genenberg mill, a former corn mill from the nineteenth century. This mill has been used as a home since 1964. The river De Dommel still flows in this area through its old meanders in the Brabant sandy soil, making the river a slow-flowing lowland stream.
