Round Pelen: Deurnsche, Groote and Mariapeel

Attention nature lovers, because this route goes through the most beautiful nature reserves around the Groote Peel! The route starts at Hotel Eetcafe In D\\\'ouwe Peel, where you can enjoy a nice drink before getting on your bike. You cycle through the Dennendijkse Bossen, a young forest area that is planted on sand drifts and heathlands. De Groote Peel National Park is a vast, water-rich and quiet raised moor area that is best known for its many bird species and special history. The 'scars' of past peat extraction are still visible everywhere in the landscape. The Deurnsche Peel and the adjacent Mariapeel around the peat colonies of Griendtsveen and Helenaveen are also remnants of this once extensive raised bog area.
