Tour Meijendel from Scheveningen

This cycling route takes you through Meijendel, a beautiful nature reserve just above Scheveningen. In the former fishing village itself you can enjoy the beautiful buildings and the characteristic atmosphere. You drive straight into Meijendel, a varied nature reserve. Close to the sea you will see low vegetation of dewberries, mosses and sometimes sea roses. The prevailing southwest wind has created parabolic dunes with horseshoe-like shapes. Oaks, hawthorns and honeysuckle grow in the forests. Get off at the Meijendel Visitor Center to find out more about this water extraction area. The route also leads you through some of Scheveningen's beautiful city parks, such as the Scheveningse Bosjes. This city park was constructed in the context of job creation at the end of the nineteenth century on centuries-old poor dune soil - just like the Westbroekpark.
