Round Lochem, Laren and Almen

Your cycle route starts at De Kleine Carrousel Experience Farm. The Ampsense Veld through which this cycling tour leads, lies like a green heart in an open agricultural environment. The landscape is very varied with coniferous and deciduous forests, moist heathland and organic farmland. Some parts are designated as a rest area, deer, mouflons and wild sheep with curved horns live here. The history of Huis Ampsen on the edge of the Ampense Veld dates back to 1105. The first castle and both houses on the estate were destroyed in 1605 by the Spaniards. The current house was rebuilt in the first half of the seventeenth century. Over time, a wing has been added to the right side, giving the building a U-shape.
