Just outside Roermond you can cycle wonderfully through the border region with Germany. A region that is not yet very well known, despite the fact that it is wonderfully beautiful to cycle here. On the Roer you pass the Vlodroppermolen, a water mill from 1875. You also cycle into the forests that lie on the edge of De Meinweg. In the visitor centre you will find plenty of information about this national park. In the adjacent forests of the Luzenkamp you cycle a short distance on the border between Germany and the Netherlands. Hillenraad Castle is a square moated castle that originally dates from the fourteenth century. During the Eighty Years' War, William of Orange led the siege of Roermond from this castle. The house is privately owned. Stop along the way at Tuincentrum Schmitz!
