Hulst is a fortified city, which makes cycling around Hulst extra special. Bulwarks and ramparts were built around the city and made Hulst virtually impregnable. The Stadsmolen is located in Hulst. This brick upper porter was built in 1792 to grind the grain of the soldiers stationed in Hulst. The mill later fell into disrepair, but was restored in 1956. The Stadsmolen is one of the few windmills that has a wooden hoop catch.
