Green views between Markelo and Laren

This route takes you through rolling fields and areas of forest and allows you to enjoy wide views over open fields.

At Fuchsiaboerderij Erve Knopert you can marvel at the floral splendor of a fuchsia garden. With hundreds of varieties of fuchsias and container plants, this garden is a true feast for the eyes. Dahlia lovers will also get their money's worth here.
You cycle past Huis Verwolde, a classicist nobleman's house from 1776. The house is located on the estate of the same name. This stately country house with corner tower is one of the former recognized estates of the Zutphen Quarter. The house was first mentioned in 1346. It is open to the public. In the Chinese room you can admire precious wallpaper. You can also walk in the garden and forest of the estate. There you will also find De dik tree, a centuries-old oak that, with a circumference of over 7.5 meters, is the thickest oak in the Netherlands.

Havezathe Oolde is a country estate and estate. The house was built in 1663 as a country estate for nearby Old Oolde and was therefore previously called Nijenhuis. The house has an 18th century appearance. The estate is open to the public, the house and its immediate surroundings are not.

You cycle through Markelo. The landscape around Markelo is slightly hilly and is characterized by rolling ash trees and five hills. The place has dozens of national monuments, including farms, outbuildings, estates and burial grounds.
Stellingmolen De Hoop is a flour mill from 1839. The mill ground grain using wind power until 1924, after which it continued to grind with an electric motor. In 1991, only the hull of the dilapidated mill remained. It was then thoroughly restored and is now regularly put into operation by a volunteer miller.
